Home for Tom, his wife Sophie, two boys, Harry and Hugo is Mayfield in East Sussex, where Sophie’s parents have an extensive yard stretching to some 60 acres.
Born in Norfolk, Tom went to Ireland for 6 months after finishing school to start his career in eventing, this was followed by various pupil placements around the UK.
Horses have been 38 year-old Tom’s passion ever since he can remember, and over the years he has continually achieved an ever greater level of success with many highlights along the way, including 13th place in the CCI4* at Luhmuhlen in 2009 and top 25 finish at Burghley 2012. In 2014 Tom also placed 14th at Luhmuhlen CCI4*, 11th at Burghley CCI4* in 2014 and 19th in 2015. Most recently finishing in the top 25 at Pau CCI4* in 2016 and finishing this season at Burghley CCI4* in 16th.
Tom’s Young Rider achievements include:
• 2nd National Championships 1999
• Team Silver Young Rider Europeans at Necarne
• Highest Place Young Rider at Burghley CCI4* 2001
Alongside his eventing Tom does his bit to help the community in Mayfield, working as a retained firefighter when his schedule allows it!
Having competed at the highest levels of the sport, Sophie has also represented her country on more than one occasion. Her eventing highlights have included Badminton and Luhmuhlen but she will argue that her most recent highlight has been her two sons Harry and Hugo and daughter Hermione.
Amy is our Head Girl and Travelling Groom. She is enthusiastic, bubbly and hard working. Before joining Team Crisp she completed an Extended Diploma in Horse Management at Hadlow College. She joined us mid-season 2016 after working through her holidays whilst at college. In May 2015 she was thrown in at the deep end grooming at Houghton CCI** and did a fantastic job.
Ellie is on a Haddon Training Level 2 apprenticeship with us here at Team Crisp. She began working for us in the summer of 2018, after breaking up from school. As the summer came to a close she decided she wanted to become a full time member of the team. Ellie is a great asset to the team and has a good attitude towards the work and horses which is really helping her ensure her work is completed efficiently and effectively. She has a new horse, Fynn, who she will aim to take out eventing in the second half of the 2019 season.
